Abstract

Organizations are introducing GenAI champion roles to support the successful adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). Despite this development, there is a lack of structured guidance on how such roles should be implemented, particularly in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This research-in-progress proposes a five-step design science approach to address this issue. By integrating empirical insights on GenAI champion characteristics and SME-specific requirements, the study aims to derive actionable design guidelines and assess their impact through a longitudinal evaluation.
